Air China Ltd (simplified Chinese: 中国国际航空公司, Pinyin: Zhōngguó Guójì Hángkōng Gōngsī, literally "Chinese International Aviation Company", abbreviated 国航) is the People's Republic of China's state owned and second-largest commercial airline after China Southern Airlines. It is the flag carrier and the only airline to fly the national flag on its entire fleet. Its logo consists of a phoenix in the form of the acronym VIP, and "Air China" in both English and Chinese, which was autographed by Deng Xiaoping. It operates 5,090 flights each week worldwide and is also the 18th largest airline in the world by fleet size.

It is a major Chinese airline operating international, domestic and regional routes. Its main base is Shanghai Pudong International Airport, with a hub at Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.

It currently doesn't belong to an airline alliance, but may be courted by Oneworld or SkyTeam. The airline has been given a three-star rating from Skytrax.

China Southern Airlines (Simplified Chinese: 中国南方航空公司)  is an airline based in Guangzhou in the Guangdong province of the People's Republic of China operating domestic, regional and international services.[1] China Southern is Asia's largest airline in terms of fleet size, the largest in Asia in passengers carried, 7th busiest in domestic passenger traffic, and the 7th largest in scheduled domestic passenger-kilometres flown. China Southern is the largest in the People's Republic of China in terms of passengers carried. China Southern carries more domestic cargo than any other airline. It is a member of the SkyTeam airline alliance.

Its main operation hubs are Guangzhou Baiyun International Airport and Beijing Capital International Airport, with other focus cities at Shenyang Taoxian International Airport, Urumqi Diwopu International Airport, Changchun Longjia International Airport, Shenzhen Bao'an International Airport, Wuhan Tianhe International Airport, Zhengzhou Xinzheng International Airport and Dalian Zhoushuizi International Airport.[citation needed]

China Southern Airlines is also accredited by IATA with the IOSA (IATA Operations Safety Audit) for its safety practices.

Shanghai Airlines Co., Ltd.  (上海航空公司) is an airline based in Shanghai, People's Republic of China. It operates domestic and international services. Its main bases are Shanghai Pudong International Airport and Shanghai Hongqiao International Airport.[1] It also retains a few flights at Nanjing and Hangzhou, and is one of the most concentrated "hub and spoke" airlines in China.

Xiamen Airlines (simplified Chinese: 厦门航空; pinyin: Xiàmén Hángkōng) is the first airline company in People's Republic of China run by private individuals, established on July 25, 1984, and based in Xiamen Gaoqi International Airport. The rights are shared by China Southern Airlines 60% and Xiamen Construction and Development Group 40%.

Its main base is in Xiamen, but it also has hubs at Fuzhou and Wuyishan in Fujian province and at Hangzhou in Zhejiang province. Besides domestic operations, it also flies to Seoul, Osaka, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Bangkok.
